Getting up close and personal with cousin Bowie before the interview started.

Getting up close and personal with cousin Bowie before the interview started.

Saturday we were visiting Gramma and cousin Bowie her kitty.  I thought it would be fun to sit down and woof a bit with Bowie about what his life is like since Gramma adopted him 4 ½ years ago. If you want to read more about how Bowie ended up with Gramma, click here for my post about his adoption.  Sometimes the best way to get the best information out of a cat is to just get really up close and personal, so I decided to try that with Bowie. He seems to like me and agreed to cooperate with me for an interview.

Bowie! Would you sit down already, you are making me nervous!

Bowie! Would you sit down already, you are making me nervous!

Emma:  Bowie, why don’t you sit down while I interview you and stop rubbing yourself on my laptop?

Bowie:  Emma, I don’t know if I can trust you, so I am going to just watch what you are typing on your laptop. I am not sure about all that social media stuff you are into and I don’t want to be made a fool of online.

Emma:  How do you like living with Gramma, you must love it! Arooooo!

Bowie:  It is really a great deal for me! I am the only pet, the “man of the house” and I have your Gramma wrapped around my paws! Purrrrr…

Emma:  Don’t you get bored just being an only pet?

Bowie:  Heavens no! It is wonderful since everything is mine and I get all the attention. I have a few friends too that drop by outside and we communicate through the window.

Emma:  What do you do all day?

Bowie:  In the warm weather months I hang out a lot on the screen porch. It is ideal for napping as there are soft cushions on the chairs and I can watch all the birds and wildlife.  Sometimes it is really exciting since we kind of live in the woods.

Emma:  What do you do in the winter time? Yawn…

Bowie:  The living room is super sunny, so I enjoy sleeping on the back of the chair next to the window. It has a great view of the woods so I can nap and also watch bird and wildlife.

Emma:  Wouldn’t you like to get out there and actually do some hunting?

Bowie:  No, I am not the violent type, I am a super gentle boy. I am actually scared if I get outside by accident. I prefer my pampered indoor life with a view of the hunting grounds. It is very safe and secure.

Emma:  What’s this I hear about you having cocktails with Gramma in the evening? I never go to do that when I stayed with her! Panting out loud…

Bowie:  I don’t really have cocktails. She puts some ice in my water bowl so it makes that clinking cocktail noise and then she shares some of her cheese and crackers with me, just a little bit though.

Emma:  What else do you do for excitement?

Bowie: I like to help your Gramma with her sewing. I try to always lie down on the project she is working on so it is appropriately covered in my fur. I like to get on the keyboard to help her out when she is working at the computer, she needs typing help. I also function as her alarm clock, making sure that she is up plenty early every morning which she really appreciates. I don’t know what she did without me! Meowwww…

Emma:  How do you feel about cousin Lena? I hear you stay with her when Gramma goes out of town. Woof!

Bowie:  Honestly, that dog is a problem! She likes to lick me all over until I am soaking wet which I really don’t care for at all but I do love the kids, so I have to put up with the dog. Slight hissing noise…

Emma:  Do you like it when Katie and I come to visit?

Bowie:  Well, I am not a big fan of dogs but I am certainly not going to let you take over my house, so I try to be civil with you both. I really wish you two wouldn’t eat all my cat food when you are visiting, that is rather rude but other than that, you two aren’t too bad.

Emma:  Is there anything else you would like to meow about?

Bowie:  I would just like to remind people to consider adopting an adult cat. We are great to have around and very appreciative. You know what I am meowing about since you and Katie adopted your cats when they were adults. We don’t shred the curtains or cause all the trouble that kittens do and we need a home filled with love as much as any animal out there in a shelter.

Emma:  Thanks for meowing with me, Bowie. You can get back to your nap now, but first I would like to give you a little thank you kiss.

a little kiss
